🌍 World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day – May 30

What is World MS Day?

World MS Day is observed every year on May 30 to unite the global community in support of those living with multiple sclerosis (MS)—a chronic, often invisible disease that affects the central nervous system. The day focuses on:

  • Raising awareness of MS symptoms, challenges, and treatment options

  • Advocating for improved healthcare access and support systems

  • Connecting people affected by MS across borders

Coordinated by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF), the campaign reaches over 100 countries.

🧠 Understanding MS
MS is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves, causing communication issues between the brain and body. Common symptoms include:

  • Fatigue and weakness

  • Numbness and muscle issues

  • Vision problems

  • Balance and coordination difficulties

  • Cognitive challenges

While there is no cure yet, treatments can help manage the condition and improve quality of life.

🎯 2024 Theme: Diagnosis & Access to Care
This year’s theme focuses on the barriers to early diagnosis and the urgent need for equitable access to treatment, especially in underserved regions.
