Every year on 19 January, India observes NDRF Raising Day, commemorating the formation of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in 2006 under the Disaster Management Act. This day honors the courage, discipline, and selfless service of the men and women who stand at the nation’s frontline during calamities.

From devastating floods and cyclones to earthquakes, landslides, fires, and industrial accidents, the NDRF has consistently emerged as a symbol of hope when everything else seems lost. Their rapid response, technical expertise, and humanitarian spirit save countless lives across urban and rural India.

🌊 Guardians in Times of Crisis

The NDRF is uniquely trained in:

  • Urban Search & Rescue (USAR)

  • Flood and water rescue operations

  • Earthquake and structural collapse response

  • Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies

  • Medical first response and evacuation

  • Community disaster preparedness training

Whether it is evacuating families during cyclones in Odisha, rescuing villagers in submerged Assam, or reaching remote Himalayan regions after landslides, the NDRF operates where danger is highest and time is shortest.
