⚕️ INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY – NOVEMBER 8

Co-sponsored by WHO, RSNA, ESR & ISR

“Through the lens of radiology, we peer into the body’s hidden landscapes—and illuminate the path to healing.”

Each year on November 8, the world celebrates International Day of Radiology (IDoR)—a day recognizing the vital role that medical imaging plays in diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. Established by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the European Society of Radiology (ESR), and the International Society of Radiology (ISR), and co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), IDoR honors the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Röntgen in 1895 and celebrates ongoing innovation in the field.

🔬 What Radiology Brings to Medicine

Radiology isn’t just X-rays. It encompasses:

  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

  • CT (Computed Tomography)

  • Ultrasound

  • Nuclear Medicine & PET

  • Interventional Radiology

These technologies offer non-invasive windows into the human body, enabling early detection of cancer, guiding life-saving surgeries, monitoring chronic disease, and much more.

🎯 2025 THEME: “AI & Radiology: Augmenting Insight, Accelerating Care”

This year’s focus highlights how artificial intelligence and machine learning are empowering radiologists worldwide—enhancing image interpretation, prioritizing urgent cases, and optimizing patient workflows without replacing the human touch.

🖌️ An Artist’s Reflection

As an artist, I see radiology images—those ghostly, translucent layers—as abstract artworks of the body’s inner world. Each scan is a grayscale landscape: the winding curves of vessels, the stark geometry of bone, the soft gradations of tissue. Radiologists and artists share a mission: to reveal what lies beneath and translate it into stories of structure and function.

“In every radiograph, there is a hidden masterpiece waiting to be understood.”

🔧 How to Observe IDoR

  • 🩺 Thank a radiologist or imaging technologist for their unseen expertise

  • 📢 Share patient stories where imaging made the difference

  • 🎙️ Host a webinar or Q&A on imaging safety and breakthroughs

  • 📚 Learn the basics of how your own scans are read and reported

  • 🎨 Create radiology-inspired art—sketch an MRI slice or paint an X-ray motif

🌿 Can You Live for 150 Years? The Extraordinary 60-Year Journey of Dr. Manimaran Introduction In an age dominated by fast food, processed meals, and complex diet trends, one man stands apart by embracing radical simplicity. Dr. Manimaran , an 82-year-old retired pediatrician from Tamil Nadu, has spent the last 60 years living without medicines, relying entirely on a natural, uncooked diet. His bold vision? Living amidst a serene coconut grove near Palani, his life is not just about longevity—it is a philosophy, a discipline, and a challenge to modern living. 🔥 The Core Philosophy: “No Fire, No Disease” At the heart of Dr. Manimaran’s lifestyle lies a striking belief: Cooking destroys the life force of food. He follows the principle of “Uncooked and Unploughed” (உழாதே சமைக்காதே) —a return to nature in its purest form. According to him, fire (cooking) alters the natural composition of food, making it harder for the body to process and leading to disease. His p...
