🐝 Don't Step on a Bee Day – 10 th July  Protecting Our Essential Pollinators, One Step at a Time Don't Step on a Bee Day, July 10, bee conservation, pollinators, save the bees On 10 th July , we observe Don't Step on a Bee Day , a quirky but important awareness day focused on bee protection [citation:3]. What started as a lighthearted observance from Ruth and Thomas Roy has grown into a broader initiative to protect these essential pollinators [citation:3]. Bees play a vital role in pollination and the health of ecosystems [citation:3]. This day reminds people to step carefully—both literally and figuratively—by supporting pollinator-friendly gardens, avoiding harmful pesticides, and learning about the importance of bees [citation:3]. It's part of a larger effort to address the alarming decline in bee populations worldwide. 🐝 What Is Don't Step on a Bee Day? ...

🌍 International Day for Biological Diversity – 22nd May

“Be Part of the Plan”

Observed on 22nd May every year

22nd May International Day for Biological Diversity 22nd May awareness biodiversity day May 22nd environment day

Every year on 22nd May, the world comes together to observe the International Day for Biological Diversity, a United Nations–designated day to celebrate the incredible variety of life on Earth — and to remind us how urgently it needs our protection.

In 2025, the theme “Be Part of the Plan” is a bold and timely invitation for every individual, community, and nation to take part in restoring nature and securing a sustainable future.

🌱 Why Biodiversity Matters

Biodiversity is more than just a list of species — it is life itself. From microscopic organisms enriching our soils to vast forests breathing life into our planet, biodiversity forms the foundation of our existence.

  • Ecosystems like wetlands, coral reefs, and rainforests
  • Genetic diversity that keeps species resilient
  • The interconnected web of all living beings — including humans

When biodiversity thrives, so do we. It provides:

  • Clean air and fresh water
  • Pollination for crops and food security
  • Resilience against climate change
  • Medicines, materials, and cultural inspiration

⚠️ The Crisis We Face

  • Nearly 1 million species are at risk of extinction
  • 75% of land and 66% of marine environments are heavily altered
  • Human-driven threats like pollution, overuse, and habitat destruction

We are living through the sixth mass extinction — but unlike previous ones, this crisis is human-driven and reversible.

🌍 “Be Part of the Plan” – 22nd May Action Call

  • Protect 30% of land and oceans by 2030
  • Restore degraded ecosystems
  • Reduce pollution and unsustainable consumption
  • Respect Indigenous knowledge and community rights

🖌️ Artists & Earthkeepers

  • Create art about endangered species
  • Tell stories that reconnect people with nature
  • Use platforms to spread environmental awareness

✅ How to Participate on 22nd May

  • Plant native species
  • Join clean-up or biodiversity walks
  • Support conservation efforts
  • Create blogs, paintings, or reels
  • Adopt eco-conscious lifestyle habits

🧭 A Shared Future

The 22nd May observance reminds us that we are part of nature — and its future depends on us.

Let Earth not just survive — but thrive and sing with life.
