A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. 🖌️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. Every year on November 5th, we celebrate International Romani Language Day, a powerful reminder of the rich heritage and enduring resilience of the Romani people — one of Europe’s largest and most misunderstood ethnic minorities.

This day is not only about words and dialects. It’s about acknowledging centuries of history, storytelling, songs, and the enduring spirit carried in the Romani language.

Romani is an Indo-Aryan language with many dialects, spoken by millions of Roma people across Europe and beyond. It carries fragments of India, Persia, Byzantium, and modern Europe — a truly nomadic language shaped by migration, struggle, and survival.

Sadly, the language is endangered in many areas due to discrimination, assimilation, and lack of recognition. That’s why this day is crucial — to celebrate, preserve, and promote linguistic rights and cultural pride.

As an artist, I see languages like brushstrokes — some bold, some gentle, all essential. The Romani language flows like folk music — full of emotion, rhythm, and memory. It’s a living artwork carried not just in books, but in the way stories are told, dances are performed, and songs are sung around fires and across generations.
