๐Ÿ A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow

๐Ÿ A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow   Acrylic on Canvas | Original Artwork by CRA [Image 1 – Initial Sketch Stage] [Image 2 – Mid Painting Process]  [Image 3 – Final Artwork] ๐ŸŽจ The Concept This artwork explores the quiet elegance of everyday objects. A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. ๐Ÿ–Œ️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. Warm tones were established first, followed by vibrant greens and highlights to create depth and realism. ๐ŸŒฟ Visual Interpretation The pears symbolize abundance, ...

✨ Dev Deepawali – The Diwali of the Gods

๐Ÿ“… Celebrated on the Full Moon (Purnima) of Kartik month – falls on 15 November in 2025

๐ŸŒŸ What Is Dev Deepawali?

While Diwali celebrates the return of Lord Rama and the victory of light over darkness, Dev Deepawali (also spelled Dev Diwali) is a celestial celebration—the day when the gods themselves descend to Earth to bathe in the Ganges and celebrate Diwali.

Observed mainly in Varanasi (Kashi), the spiritual capital of India, this festival is held on Kartik Purnima, fifteen days after Diwali.

On this luminous night, millions of diyas (earthen lamps) illuminate the ghats of the Ganga, creating a magical, divine spectacle that has earned the name:

"The Diwali of the Gods."

๐Ÿ•‰️ Mythological Significance

According to Hindu legends, Dev Deepawali commemorates Lord Shiva's victory over the demon Tripurasura, which is why it is also called Tripurotsav.

Devas (divine beings) celebrated this triumph by lighting lamps and descending to bathe in the holy Ganges. Hence, devotees follow suit, believing this day to be one of the most auspicious times to take a holy dip.

๐ŸŒŠ Rituals and Celebrations

Here’s how Dev Deepawali is traditionally celebrated:

  • ๐Ÿช” Millions of diyas are lit at all the ghats in Varanasi at dusk.

  • ๐ŸŒผ Ganga aarti is performed with grandeur, especially at Dashashwamedh Ghat.

  • ๐Ÿ›ถ Devotees take a holy dip in the Ganga at dawn, seeking divine blessings.

  • ๐Ÿ•ฏ️ Houses, temples, and riverfronts are adorned with colorful rangoli and lights.

  • ๐ŸŽ† Fireworks and devotional songs fill the sky and air with spiritual joy.

๐ŸŽจ Artistic Insights from CRA Arts

As an artist, Dev Deepawali is a living canvas—the flickering diyas against the river’s reflection, the silhouettes of pilgrims in prayer, and the divine aura of ancient rituals.

This festival invites you to light the lamp within—to banish your own darkness with the flame of truth, discipline, and devotion.

Imagine capturing:

  • The golden glow of 10 lakh diyas along the ghats

  • A priest mid-aarti, his hands rising with the flames

  • A child floating a diya with a whispered wish

๐Ÿ–Œ️ Every frame is poetry. Every moment is sacred.

๐Ÿ“ฟ Dev Deepawali and Personal Reflection

Beyond the lights and legends, Dev Deepawali reminds us:

When you light a lamp for others, you also brighten your own path.

It’s a moment to:

  • Reflect on divine energies within

  • Reconnect with gratitude and humility

  • Commit to inner peace and clarity
