A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. 🖌️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. 🇸🇾 What Is World Kobanê Day?

World Kobanê Day, observed on 1 November each year, is a global commemoration of the resistance and resilience of the people of Kobanê, a Kurdish-majority city in northern Syria. This day marks the international solidarity shown during the historic battle against ISIS (Daesh) in 2014–2015, where local Kurdish-led forces (especially the YPG and YPJ) defended the city against overwhelming odds.

World Kobanê Day has become a symbol of resistance, unity, women’s liberation, and the fight against terrorism and fascism.

🏛️ A Brief Historical Background

  • Kobanê, located in the Rojava region of Syria (Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria), came under attack by ISIS in September 2014.

  • The battle quickly drew international attention for its brutality and symbolism—if Kobanê fell, it would have been a major victory for ISIS.

  • With minimal support from outside powers initially, Kurdish forces, especially women fighters (YPJ), held their ground.

  • After months of fierce resistance, Kobanê was declared fully liberated on 26 January 2015.
