๐ฎ Geek Pride Day – 25th May
Celebrate your inner geek — science, sci-fi, comics, coding, and all things awesome
Every year on 25th May, geeks around the world celebrate Geek Pride Day — a day to proudly embrace one's geeky passions, from science fiction and fantasy to comic books, video games, board games, coding, cosplay, and everything in between. It's a day to reject shame, celebrate fandom, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
Geek Pride Day originated in Spain in 2006, launched by the blogger Germรกn Martรญnez (known as "Seรฑor Buebo") as a response to the cancellation of a popular Spanish sci-fi convention. The date, May 25, was chosen to coincide with Star Wars Day (May 4 is already "May the Fourth be with you," but May 25 is the anniversary of the original Star Wars film's release in 1977) and Towel Day (honoring Douglas Adams). Over time, Geek Pride Day has grown into an international celebration.

Geek art is its own genre: fan art (digital, traditional, 3D), cosplay photography, prop making, sculpture (custom action figures), and pixel art. Artists earn livings through commissions, conventions, and online platforms (Etsy, DeviantArt, ArtStation). Geek art celebrates the love of characters and worlds — and sometimes surpasses official merchandise in creativity.
๐งญ A Message of Pride
On this 25th May, remember: being a geek is not something to hide. It is something to celebrate. The world needs passionate people who love deeply, know obscure details, and build communities around shared joy. Whether you love Star Trek or Doctor Who, D&D or coding, comic books or cosplay — your enthusiasm makes the world more interesting. So wear your geek badge with pride. And remember the wise words of Douglas Adams: "Don't Panic."
๐ Live long and prosper. May the Force be with you. So say we all. ๐
