"The Forgotten War"

๐Ÿ“– The Korean War and the Armistice

The Korean War began on 25 June 1950 when North Korean forces crossed the 38th Parallel into South Korea. The conflict soon became an international effort involving United Nations forces, led primarily by the United States, supporting South Korea, while Chinese forces entered the war in support of North Korea. After three years of intense fighting and enormous human loss, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed on 27 July 1953, ending active hostilities. Although the fighting ceased, a formal peace treaty has never been signed, meaning the Korean Peninsula technically remains under an armistice rather than a permanent peace agreement.
