🍐 A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow   Acrylic on Canvas | Original Artwork by CRA [Image 1 – Initial Sketch Stage] [Image 2 – Mid Painting Process]  [Image 3 – Final Artwork] 🎨 The Concept This artwork explores the quiet elegance of everyday objects. A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. 🖌️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. Warm tones were established first, followed by vibrant greens and highlights to create depth and realism. 🌿 Visual Interpretation The pears symbolize abundance, ...

Let the Light Speak

Let the Light Speak

A Reflection on Mark 4:21–25

“Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?” – Mark 4:21

After teaching about the Parable of the Sower, Jesus continues with a profound truth: light is never meant to be hidden. In Mark 4:21–25, He moves from seeds in soil to lamps on stands—shifting from how the Word is received to how the Word is revealed.

This passage is short, yet spiritually dense. It speaks about responsibility, revelation, spiritual growth, and accountability.

🌟 The Lamp and Its Purpose (Verse 21)

A lamp exists for one reason—to give light.

Jesus asks a rhetorical question:
Why light a lamp and hide it under a bowl or bed?

The message is clear:
Truth is meant to shine.

The Word of God is not given merely for private comfort or secret knowledge. It is given so that it may:

  • Illuminate hearts

  • Guide lives

  • Transform others

  • Reveal God’s kingdom

Every believer becomes a lamp-bearer. Faith is not just to be held—it is to be shared.

Just as a painter reveals beauty by light and shadow, God reveals His truth by placing it where it can be seen. Hidden light loses its purpose.

🔍 What Is Hidden Will Be Revealed (Verse 22)

“For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.”

This is both comforting and sobering.

  • Comforting, because truth will ultimately triumph.

  • Sobering, because nothing remains forever concealed.

Spiritually, it means:

  • God’s mysteries will unfold in time.

  • Hearts will be exposed.

  • Intentions will be revealed.

  • The Kingdom will be made visible.

Light always wins over darkness—eventually.

👂 “Consider Carefully What You Hear” (Verse 23–24)

Jesus now turns inward:

“With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.”

This speaks of spiritual receptivity.

The way we listen determines the way we grow.

  • A shallow listener gains little.

  • A hungry listener receives abundance.

  • A careless heart loses even what it has.

God’s Word is not static. It multiplies in a receptive heart.

Just like fertile soil multiplies seed, an attentive soul multiplies truth.

📈 Spiritual Law of Growth (Verse 25)

“Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”

This is not about wealth—it is about spiritual sensitivity.

  • Those who walk in light receive more light.

  • Those who ignore light gradually lose clarity.

Faith grows by use.
Understanding grows by obedience.
Light grows by sharing.

A lamp that shines becomes brighter.
A lamp that is hidden eventually goes out.

🌿 Living the Passage Today

Mark 4:21–25 challenges us with three questions:

  1. Is the light in me visible?

  2. How attentively am I hearing God’s Word?

  3. Am I using what I have been given?

Your faith, your talent, your testimony, your creativity—none of it is meant to be hidden.

As an artist reveals truth through color and form, God reveals His kingdom through willing lives.

Let your light stand.
