🍐 A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow   Acrylic on Canvas | Original Artwork by CRA [Image 1 – Initial Sketch Stage] [Image 2 – Mid Painting Process]  [Image 3 – Final Artwork] 🎨 The Concept This artwork explores the quiet elegance of everyday objects. A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. 🖌️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. Warm tones were established first, followed by vibrant greens and highlights to create depth and realism. 🌿 Visual Interpretation The pears symbolize abundance, ...

International Epilepsy Day – 12th February

🌍 International Epilepsy Day – 12th February

Ending Stigma, Spreading Awareness, Empowering Lives

Every year in February, on the second Monday of the month—often falling on 12th February—the world observes International Epilepsy Day. This global initiative is led by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) to raise awareness about epilepsy and to stand for the rights, dignity, and inclusion of those living with the condition.

Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide, making it one of the most common neurological disorders. Yet, misunderstanding and stigma remain more disabling than the condition itself.

This day exists to replace fear with knowledge—and silence with solidarity.

🧠 Understanding Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures caused by sudden bursts of electrical activity in the brain. It can affect people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.

Key facts:

  • It is not contagious

  • Many people with epilepsy live full, productive lives

  • Seizures can often be controlled with treatment

  • With support, individuals can study, work, and thrive

  • Awareness saves lives during emergencies

Epilepsy is a medical condition—not a limitation of potential.

🌱 Why This Day Matters

Across the world, people with epilepsy face:

  • Social stigma and discrimination

  • Barriers in education and employment

  • Fear rooted in myths and misinformation

  • Isolation and misunderstanding

International Epilepsy Day promotes:

  • Public education

  • Equal opportunities

  • Medical access

  • Community support

  • Respect for human dignity

Awareness transforms fear into understanding—and understanding into inclusion.

🌍 A Call for Inclusion

This day reminds societies that:

  • Health challenges should never become social barriers

  • Every individual deserves respect

  • Knowledge is the strongest medicine against stigma

  • Communities grow stronger through empathy

When we support those living with epilepsy, we strengthen the fabric of humanity.

🎨 An Artistic Reflection

For an artist, the brain is the most intricate canvas.

Within it live ideas, memories, dreams, and identity.
Epilepsy does not diminish creativity—it often deepens it.

Many great minds in history lived with neurological challenges, proving that brilliance is not bound by condition. Art teaches us that difference is not defect—it is diversity.

Every mind carries beauty.
Every life carries value.

🕊️ Ways to Observe International Epilepsy Day

  • Learn seizure first-aid

  • Share accurate information

  • Support epilepsy organizations

  • Encourage inclusive attitudes

  • Stand against stigma

Even one informed person can change a life.

🔚 Conclusion – Awareness Is Power

International Epilepsy Day reminds us that the greatest barrier faced by those with epilepsy is not the condition—but the misunderstanding surrounding it.

With knowledge comes confidence.
With empathy comes dignity.
With awareness comes change.

Let this day inspire us to build a world where no one is judged by a diagnosis—and where every individual is seen for who they truly are.

When we understand, we empower. When we empower, we heal.
