🍐 A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow

🍐 A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow   Acrylic on Canvas | Original Artwork by CRA [Image 1 – Initial Sketch Stage] [Image 2 – Mid Painting Process]  [Image 3 – Final Artwork] 🎨 The Concept This artwork explores the quiet elegance of everyday objects. A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. 🖌️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. Warm tones were established first, followed by vibrant greens and highlights to create depth and realism. 🌿 Visual Interpretation The pears symbolize abundance, ...

World Hearing Day – 3rd March

 🌍 World Hearing Day – 3rd March

Listening Today to Protect the Sound of Tomorrow

Every year on 3rd March, the world observes World Hearing Day, led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about hearing loss, ear health, and the importance of early prevention and care.

Hearing is more than a sense.
It is connection.
It is safety.
It is learning.
It is belonging.

When hearing fades, communication suffers—but with awareness and timely care, most hearing loss is preventable or manageable.

🌱 Why World Hearing Day Matters

Globally, over 1.5 billion people live with some degree of hearing loss—and this number is rising due to:

  • Exposure to loud noise

  • Unsafe listening practices

  • Untreated ear infections

  • Aging populations

  • Lack of early screening

Without action, hearing loss can lead to:

  • Communication barriers

  • Social isolation

  • Educational challenges

  • Reduced employment opportunities

  • Mental health issues

World Hearing Day exists to shift focus from treatment to prevention.

🌍 Understanding Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can be:

  • Congenital (present at birth)

  • Acquired (due to infections, noise, or injury)

  • Age-related (presbycusis)

Common causes include:

  • Prolonged exposure to loud sounds

  • Unsafe headphone use

  • Chronic ear infections

  • Certain medications

  • Lack of timely medical care

Simple actions—like safe listening and early screening—can protect hearing for life.

🌍 A Global Public Health Priority

World Hearing Day promotes:

  • Newborn and school hearing screening

  • Safe listening standards (especially for youth)

  • Access to hearing care services

  • Affordable hearing aids and assistive technologies

  • Integration of ear and hearing care into primary healthcare

Hearing health is not a luxury—it is essential for inclusive societies.

🎨 An Artistic Reflection

For an artist, sound is invisible color.

Music shapes mood.
Voices carry emotion.
Silence speaks volumes.

Art reminds us that listening is an act of respect.
To hear someone is to acknowledge their existence.

Protecting hearing is protecting expression itself.

🕊️ Ways to Observe World Hearing Day

  • Get a hearing check-up

  • Practice safe listening (lower volume, take breaks)

  • Protect ears in noisy environments

  • Educate children about ear health

  • Support inclusive communication practices

  • Share awareness responsibly

  • Advocate for accessible hearing care

Prevention today preserves connection tomorrow.

🔚 Conclusion – Listen with Care, Live with Sound

World Hearing Day reminds us that hearing health underpins education, work, relationships, and well-being.

When we protect our hearing,
we protect our ability to connect.

Let 3rd March be a reminder to listen—
to ourselves,
to others,
and to the quiet signals our bodies send.

Healthy hearing keeps the world within reach.
