🍐 A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow

🍐 A Study in Stillness: Pears in Light and Shadow   Acrylic on Canvas | Original Artwork by CRA [Image 1 – Initial Sketch Stage] [Image 2 – Mid Painting Process]  [Image 3 – Final Artwork] 🎨 The Concept This artwork explores the quiet elegance of everyday objects. A simple bowl of pears becomes a subject of depth, texture, and light. The composition reflects a timeless still-life tradition, where ordinary forms are transformed into visual poetry. πŸ–Œ️ Artistic Process The journey began with a loose sketch to establish composition and balance. With acrylics, layering was approached strategically — starting with thin underpainting and gradually building opacity and highlights. Fast-drying acrylic allowed controlled detailing, especially in defining form, edges, and reflections. 🦠 “Gut Feeling: Celebrating World Digestive Health Day”

πŸ“… May 29 | World Digestive Health Day (WDHD)

Because a healthy gut means a healthier you!

Each year on May 29, we celebrate World Digestive Health Day (WDHD)—a global awareness campaign led by the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO). Our digestive system is often called the body's “second brain”, and this day reminds us to keep it healthy, balanced, and resilient.

🧠 Why Gut Health Matters

  • 🍽️ Breaks Down & Absorbs Nutrients: Fuels every cell in your body.

  • πŸ›‘️ Supports Immunity: About 70% of your immune system resides in your gut.

  • 😊 Affects Mood & Brain Health: The gut-brain connection influences stress, anxiety, and even happiness.

  • ⚖️ Balances the Microbiome: Trillions of bacteria help regulate weight, inflammation, and hormones.

πŸ“œ What is WDHD All About?

  • πŸ‘¨‍⚕️ Founded by the World Gastroenterology Organisation in 2004.

  • 🩺 Aims to educate and promote awareness about common digestive diseases, prevention, and early intervention.

  • 🎯 Each year focuses on a specific digestive health theme, such as:

    • Gut Microbiome, IBS, Colorectal Cancer, or Liver Health.

πŸ“Š Digestive Health by the Numbers

  • 🧫 Your gut contains 100 trillion+ bacteria—more than your body’s total human cells.

  • 🍞 1 in 7 people globally suffer from IBS or chronic bloating.

  • πŸ’Š Overuse of antibiotics and ultra-processed foods harm gut diversity.

🌿 How to Celebrate WDHD

πŸ₯— 1. Eat for Gut Health

  • Enjoy fiber-rich foods, fermented items (yogurt, kimchi), and whole grains.

  • Limit ultra-processed snacks and sugar.

🚢 2. Get Moving

  • Moderate daily exercise helps with digestion and boosts gut flora.

πŸ“š 3. Educate Yourself

  • Read about common digestive disorders and prevention strategies.

πŸ’¬ 4. Spread the Word

  • Share your story, tips, or a gut-friendly recipe with #WDHD or #GutFeeling.

🩺 5. Consult a Specialist

  • Don’t ignore signs like chronic heartburn, bloating, or stomach pain. Early care matters!

🧩 Common Digestive Conditions to Know

  • πŸ”₯ Acid Reflux (GERD)

  • πŸ’¨ Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

  • 🦠 Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

  • πŸ› Parasites & Infections

  • 🎯 Colon Cancer (Early screening = key)

🌈 Conclusion: Trust Your Gut!

Your gut does more than digest—it communicates, defends, and supports your overall well-being. World Digestive Health Day is a reminder to tune in, take action, and treat your digestive system with care.

🌟 This May 29, let your gut guide you—eat clean, stay active, and share the love for healthy digestion!
